IUPUI is developing an intermediate water demand forecasting model to project the upcoming 12 to 24 months of water demand for Citizens Energy Group.
As water/sewer rates increase and technology becomes more water efficient, households and industry are using less water than ever before. In order to reduce ratepayer bills, utilities are constantly seeking to improve operational costs and practices.
Drinking water demand models for short term (up to two weeks, weather based) and long term (10+ years, trend based) periods have been developed, but an intermediate model would be useful.
This model will allow Citizens Energy Group to keep water bills even lower by more accurately predicting the water demand of Indianapolis.
