Yvonne Perkins Legacy Fund Scholarship
Citizens is proud to present the Yvonne Perkins Legacy Fund Scholarship for students interested in higher education opportunities who are working to overcome hardships and plan to give back to the community.
The scholarship was created to honor Yvonne Perkins for her work as community volunteer and leader.
The application includes completing the application form below, essay questions to explain your plans and goals for furthering your education, your plans for supporting the community, and submitting a letter of recommendation.

Scholarship Applicants
YPLF invites students from local high schools, veterans, and re-entry organizations in Indianapolis - Marion County to apply for scholarship or training funding. The application process requires the candidate to provide the following key information:
- Reference letter from a non-family member. We ask from references: Describe who you are, your relationship to the candidate, and describe in detail the candidate’s positive character attributes, impact on their community, and how the scholarship will positively impact the applicant's educational goals.
- Candidate responses to the following questions:
- Explain the basis for financial need.
- The candidate’s story of how they have overcome or are working toward overcoming adversity.
- How they currently contribute or give back to the community.
- Why they are pursuing further education, how education or training shapes their personal goals for the future, and how this education/training will allow them to serve the community in the future.
Preference may be given to applicants who reside within the four Indianapolis neighborhood areas identified in Citizens Energy Group’s Neighborhood Ambassador Program: Martindale Brightwood, King Commons, SoIndy, and Twin Aire.

Awarded scholarships may be used toward any college degrees or vocational certificates, with preference given to degrees or programs that relate to fields supported by Citizens Energy Group and adjacent industries.

The schools and organizations involved must be willing to accept the funds directly.

Candidate stories may be used to promote YPLF to further raise awareness, advocacy, and financial support for future scholarships.

Those selected for a scholarship are eligible to apply for future YPLF scholarships.
