Eric Scroggins

Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, Allison Transmission, Inc.

Eric joined Allison Transmission, Inc. (Allison), as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary in 2007. Allison, a $3.2B global business headquartered in Indianapolis for over 100 years, is the world’s largest designer and manufacturer of medium and heavy duty automatic transmissions and electric hybrid propulsion systems for commercial vehicles. Allison is also a leader in fully electric drive systems for commercial vehicles as well as wheeled and tracked drive systems for defense applications for the United States and its allies around the globe.

As Allison’s chief legal officer, Eric is responsible for advising Allison’s board of directors and leadership team on a variety of legal and business matters, managing Allison’s legal affairs and overseeing the company’s Government Relations, Export Compliance, Chief Compliance Officer, Internal Audit and Sustainability Compliance organizations. As a member of Allison’s executive leadership team, Eric helped guide the Allison business though its standup following a carve-out from GM to private equity sponsors, and later, an IPO on the NYSE. Eric has extensive experience advising the business and board on a wide range of legal, regulatory and compliance matters. He is experienced in a broad array of legal areas including commercial law, corporate governance, securities, M&A, litigation, employment, intellectual property and a variety of global compliance issues including cyber security, privacy, antitrust, environmental, FCPA, emission/fuel economy regulations, investigations and enforcement. Eric is a founding member of Allison’s Cyber Security Incident Response Team and Inclusion & Diversity Executive Council. He serves as Chair of the Allison PAC and as a member of the Disclosure Committee and has previously served on Allison’s Investment and Benefit committees. A thought leader and practical legal advisor, Eric has a reputation for collaboration, cross-functional partnering and building strong teams.

Outside of Allison, Eric serves on the boards of Citizens Energy Group, the Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee and the Indiana Industrial Energy Consumers, Inc., and he is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors and the Society for Corporate Governance. Eric is a frequent speaker on a variety of public company topics including governance and compliance.

Prior to joining Allison, Eric served as General Counsel for Product Action International and as an attorney with the law firm of Ice Miller. Eric also worked in a variety of roles for the State of Indiana including Deputy Director of the Indiana State Personnel Department. Before that, Eric worked as a consultant for Waggoner, Irwin & Scheele.
