Philanthropic Partnerships
Citizens Energy Group wants to thoughtfully grant financial support to organizations which are providing important value to our community and which are aligned with Citizens’ environmental, business, or community sustainability goals —themselves modeled after the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG). Application Prioritization
In addition to the sustainability categories listed above, the Philanthropic Partnerships review team may specially prioritize partner funding applications which demonstrate:
- A not-for-profit or tax-exempt organizational designation.
- A stated commitment to non-discrimination in hiring or programming.
- An organizational history of successful community impact.
- A distinct separation from political activities, candidates, or organizations.
Applications are subject to a 90-day review process. Applications submitted less than 90 days prior to the date of need will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Partnership Highlights
Citizens’ philanthropic partners are making a big difference for our Central Indiana community. Here are a few examples a few examples of who (and how) we support!
Applicable to both our Basic Human Needs and our Cultural Institutions categories, Citizens has regularly been a sponsor of the annual Tonic Ball music festival benefiting the work of Second Helpings. Now a mainstay of the Indianapolis music scene, ticket sales for this event each November support Second Helpings’ work in food rescue and hunger prevention across Central Indiana.
Citizens has provided funds for a variety of events and operational programs at Helping Veterans and Families of Indiana (HVAF), ultimately assisting to address housing and other needs for Hoosier veterans--a vulnerable population and a priority of our Diversity giving category.
Addressing our Education giving category, Citizens has regularly granted funds to The STEM Connection to support their development of educational materials and events which provide accessible STEM experiences for youth-- with a particular commitment to those who are under-represented in STEM careers.
