Insurance and Wellness

All full-time employees and their eligible family members are eligible for benefits on their first day of employment.

Medical – As a Citizens employee, you will have your choice of three Consumer Driven Health Plans (CDHP). Our medical plans include prescription drug benefits which also provides access to a diabetes management program.

Dental – Our dental plan helps cover routine cleanings, oral exams, fluoride treatment, and x-rays as well as many basic and major restorative services (such as orthodontia).

Vision We offer two options for vision coverage that allow for flexibility in choices. Our Full-Service option provides a comprehensive vision benefit that includes a network of eye care providers. Our Exam-Only option is a discount program that includes a $5 annual vision exam.

Life and Accident - Non-Bargaining employees are automatically covered for an employer-paid basic life and accidental death dismemberment insurance equal to two times your annual salary. Bargaining employees are automatically covered under the terms of their labor agreement.

Wellness Program - Citizens Energy Group offers a comprehensive wellness program dedicated to improving the health of employees and their families by providing convenient resources including access to individual health coaching, an onsite registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator, wellness challenges, private group support via Facebook, onsite fitness classes, and onsite biometric screenings.

Voluntary Benefits

Life Insurance - Employees may enroll in voluntary life insurance at affordable rates for themselves and their eligible family members.

Critical Illness and Accident Insurance - Employees may also enroll in voluntary critical illness and accident coverage at affordable rates.

Pet Insurance - Citizens offers pet insurance to make pet care more affordable.

Identity Theft Protection - Citizens offers identity protection that protects your privacy and security. This benefit includes mobile device protection, child ID protection, and credit monitoring.

Employee Referral Program - Employees are eligible to receive a monetary payout for eligible referrals.

Health Savings & Dependent Care

Tax-free accounts let you set funds aside on a pre-tax basis for qualified healthcare, dental, vision, and dependent care.

Health Savings Account (HSA) - Save and spend on current and future healthcare expenses. You and the company contribute to this account. It’s a savings account you can use to help pay for eligible medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision expenses. You own your account and can choose to use it now or save it for the future. The funds are yours to keep even if you leave the company.

Healthcare Flexible Spending Account (FSA) - Manage eligible healthcare expenses — and save on taxes. Only you contribute to this account. Use it to set aside tax-free funds each year to use for expenses not paid by a health plan.

Limited Purpose Flexible Spending Account (LPFSA) - Use for dental and vision care, and save HSA dollars for other expenses. Only you contribute to this account. Use it to pay for dental and vision expenses only. You can participate if you enroll in a medical plan with an HSA.

Dependent Care Spending Account (DCSA) - Budget for child and elder care expenses while you save on taxes. Use this account to set aside tax-free funds to reimburse yourself for daycare expenses necessary so that you can work. You can use your account for daycare, in-home care, certain day camps, and elder daycare.

Additional Benefits

Short-Term Incentive Pay (STIP) Plan - In addition to competitive compensation, employees are also eligible to receive additional compensation through the company’s Short-Term Incentive Plan (STIP). This incentive is based upon targets set for the fiscal year that runs from October 1st through September 30th.

Adoption Assistance - Eligible regular full-time employees can be reimbursed for up to $3,000 per child for expenses related to adopting a child up to the age of 18.

Community Volunteer Support Program - Citizens encourages employees to volunteer their time, talents and skills to non-profits that help build a greater community. Through our Community Volunteer Support Program, Citizens recognizes employees and retirees for the time and effort they invest while support programs and events that target key community needs. Full-time and part-time employees may apply for one award of $250 each calendar year for a non-profit organization where they have volunteered 50 hours or more of their time.

Educational Assistance - Citizens Energy Group encourages its employees to pursue educational opportunities that can assist their personal and professional growth by providing financial assistance for degree-related expenses for its full-time regular employees. This benefit is intended to assist employees who wish to further develop their talents, increase their knowledge and effectiveness in their current position, or enhance their potential contribution to Citizens.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP) - Our EAP offers you and your eligible dependents 24/7 telephone access to confidential, professional assistance with advice and referrals, counseling, legal, and financial services.

Energy Plus Credit Union - On-site credit union with convenient ATM access. Employees can secure their money in insured accounts. Home, car, personal loans, and credit cards are offered at competitive interest rates.

Public Service Loan (PSLF) Program - Citizens Energy Group is a qualifying employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program. Full-time employees may be eligible to have their student loan(s) forgiven.

Hybrid Work Program - Citizens Energy Group follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on the job, demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences.

Paid Time Off (PTO) or Vacation Time - We know the importance of time away from work.  Paid Time Off is available to all full-time regular employees on their first day of employment.  Take time off to enjoy your life and fuel your passions. 

Paid Days Off - In addition to the bank of PTO hours or Vacation Time, employees receive twelve paid days off.

Retirement & Savings

Planning for life after your career is important. Citizens offers several options for employees to invest and save to be able to enjoy financial freedom during retirement.

401(k) Matching Defined Contributions - You are eligible to participate in the 401(k) plan immediately.  Here are the highlights: 

  • We encourage all employees to contribute to their 401(k) and Citizens Energy Group provides matching contribution as outlined in our plan summary.  

  • Part-time employees are eligible to contribute but not eligible for the company match option.  

  • All contributions and company match are immediately vested. 

  • You can contribute to a traditional 401(k) pre-tax or Roth 401(k) after-tax account.

 

Defined Benefit Pension Plan - A benefit that sets Citizens apart from most employers, our Defined Benefit Pension Plan provides significant retirement benefits to eligible employees. Here are the highlights: 

  • Contributions to the plan are 100% funded by the Company. 

  • Partial vesting in the plan occurs after 5 years of service (50%). Each year thereafter employees earn 10% vesting for each year of service until 10 years of service is reached. At that point an employee is fully vested in the plan (100%).
