Compensation
Citizens Energy Group offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package that focuses on your health and career.
Short-Term Incentive Plan (STIP) – Employees are eligible to receive additional compensation through the company’s Short-Term Incentive Plan (STIP). The short-term incentive is based upon targets set for the fiscal year that starts October 1 and ends September 30.
Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance
Full time employees are eligible for all coverages on their first day of employment.
Medical – As a Citizens employee, you will have your choice of three Consumer Driven Health Plans (CDHP). In addition, medical premium discounts are available for participation in our extensive wellness plan. No matter your choice, you will have access to excellent medical and prescription drug benefits.
Dental – Helps pay for routine cleanings, oral exams, fluoride treatments and x-rays as well as many basic and major restorative services (such as orthodontia).
Vision – As part of your medical benefits, you will receive basic vision testing and an extensive discount program from a large network of retail and individual practice providers. You also have the option to select a full-service vision plan which offers co-pays on frames, lenses, and contact lenses.
Additional Insurance
Life Insurance – Non-Bargaining employees are automatically covered for an employer-paid basic life and accidental death dismemberment insurance equal to two times your annual salary. Bargaining employees are automatically covered under the terms or their labor agreement.
Employees may enroll in voluntary permanent and term life insurance at affordable rates for themselves and their eligible family members.
Employees may also enroll in voluntary critical illness and accident coverage at affordable rates for themselves.
Additional Benefits
Health Savings Account (HSA)
Citizens offer a Health Savings Account (HSA) for employee to use in connection with their CDHP. Citizens contributes funding to employees’ accounts to assist employees with their medical expenses.
Flexible Spending Accounts
Citizens offers three Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) to help save you money:

Limited FSA for use with CDHP for dental and vision expenses only.

General Purpose FSA for employees who do not participate in our medical insurance plans are not HSA eligible.

Dependent Care (Day-Care) Flexible Spending Account to assist with childcare expenses.
Adoption Assistance
Citizens provides financial support for all or a portion of the cost of adopting a child. Employees are eligible to be reimbursed up to $3,000 for qualified adoption expenses for an eligible child.
Employee Assistance Plan (EAP)
Stress and change are a natural part of life. To help manage life’s stressors, EAP offers free confidential short-term counseling to employees and members of their households who request assistance.
Identity Theft Protection
Citizens offers identity protection that protects your privacy and security. This benefit includes mobile device protection, child ID protection, and credit monitoring.
Planning for life after your career is important. Citizens offers several options for employees to invest and save in order to be able to enjoy financial freedom during retirement.
401(k) Matching Defined Contributions
Our 401(k) plan allows you to save for retirement through payroll deductions and provides a company match. All eligible non-bargaining employees are eligible for a company matching contribution of 50% up to the first 6% of employee contributions. There is no waiting period to enroll.
Part-time employees are not eligible for the company match option. However, all contributions made to the account are immediately 100% vested.
Defined Benefit Pension Plan
A benefit that sets Citizens apart from most employers, our Defined Benefit Pension Plan provides significant retirement benefits to eligible employees. Partial vesting in the plan occurs after 5 years of service (50%). Each year thereafter employees earn 10% vesting for each year of service until 10 years of service is reached. At that point an employee is fully vested in the plan (100%).
Energy Plus Credit Union
On-site credit union with convenient ATM access. Employees can secure their money in insured accounts. Home, car, personal loans and credit cards are offered at competitive interest rates.
At Citizens we believe that a solid work/life balance is important. We realize that life happens outside of our office walls. That’s why we’ve included a variety of leave programs so that our employees can maintain a healthy work/life balance.
Paid Time Off and Holidays
Paid Time Off is available to all full-time regular employees on their first day of employment.
Eligible employees receive nine paid holidays off – plus a birthday holiday you can use anytime during the calendar year.
Leave Programs
Leaves of Absence – Citizens offers leaves of absence (subject to advance approval) for certain needs – including family care, personal leaves, bereavement, and military service.
Short-Term and Long-Term Disability - Citizens offers these leaves to full-time employees when an employee needs to be away from work for an extended period for a non-work-related disability such as maternity, illness, or injury.
Community Volunteer Support Program
Citizens encourages employees to volunteer their time, talents and skills to non-profits that help build a greater community. Through our Community Volunteer Support Program, Citizens recognizes employees and retirees for the time and effort they invest while support programs and events that target key community needs. Full-time and part-time employees may apply for one award of $250 each calendar year for a non-profit organization where they have volunteered 50 hours of more of their time.

Citizens is a learning organization that ensures you are equipped for your job and that you gain the skills you need to continue building a successful career. Employees are provided additional learning opportunities through our robust learning management system, Citizens Success Academy. Job specific training is also available, in addition to assistance obtaining or maintaining applicable certifications. We are a team-based organization which allows employees opportunities to participate on cross-functional teams and career development opportunities to further enhance their skills. Opportunities to shadow or work in other roles or departments are often available.

Citizens Energy Group encourages its employees to pursue educational opportunities that can assist their personal and professional growth by providing financial assistance for degree-related expenses for its full-time regular employees.
