Project Description

The facility improvements at the Belmont AWTP expand treatment capacity to 300 MGD and maintain compliance with the current National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit.

Project Stats

• Projects completed in 2012

• Plant improvements include:

1. Wet-weather storage basins (30 and 4 million gallons)

2. Two new primary clarifiers and new process yard piping

3. Installation of gravity belt thickeners

4. New wet-weather treatment including new aeration tanks

5. New wet-weather disinfection system

• Significantly reduces the combined sewer overflow at outfall 008

• Eliminates AWTP primary effluent discharge

• Peak treatment rate of 300 million gallons per day
